Everybody talks about work life balance…But nobody actually tells you how to live it.
Because the truth is… balance doesn’t exist.
When I first started in the business with Northwestern Mutual, I was taught the “bucket theory.”
Long term, short term, emergency… fill each bucket, stay disciplined.
It made sense.
But fast forward to today… and now my buckets look a little different:
- Business growth
- Taking care of clients
- Family
- Being a spouse
- Health
- Eating right
- Managing money
- Staying organized
And I started asking myself…
How am I supposed to fill ALL of these… every single day?
Here’s what I’ve realized:
– The problem isn’t that we’re lazy
– The problem is we’re trying to be perfect in every category at the same time.
And that’s where the stress comes from.
That’s where burnout lives.

So What Actually Works?

I’ve pulled this from years of experience and lessons from people like Grant Cardone, Tim Ferriss, Darren Hardy, and Tony Robbins.
And it all comes down to this:
- Execute before you’re ready
- Perfection is just procrastination dressed up to look productive.
- Start at 60% and adjust as you go.
- Not everything deserves your time
- Focus on your top 3 priorities each day.
- Everything else can wait.
- Your time is your greatest asset
- You don’t have a time problem… you have a priority problem.
And here’s the part nobody talks about…
We’re told to constantly improve… But no one tells us when it stops.
Truth is: It doesn’t. But your capacity does.
And if you’re anything like me… a little OCD, a little perfectionist…
Nothing ever feels like enough.
So here’s the shift:
You don’t stop improving…
You stop requiring perfection to feel progress.

My simple system: The 3 Bucket Rule
- 1 Personal
- 1 Growth
- 1 Maintenance
That’s it.
The 80% Rule
If it creates value… move.
You’re not supposed to do everything.
You’re supposed to do the right things… at the right time.
Stop chasing balance.
Stop chasing perfect.
Start executing what matters… and respect your progress along the way.
